REPLICA CUPS
SAM MAGUIRE AND LIAM MacCARTHY

In 2010, my old colleague Dessie Byrne, the silversmith who works out of Kilkenny, asked me to chase the band of Celtic designs around the top of the Sam Maguire cup. This was not my first encounter with Sam, as in 1978 Sam’s portrait went missing in action and I made a replacement.
I did the chasing and repousse on the two replicas of the Liam MacCarthy Cup.
The cup itself was fabricated by James Mary Kelly(JMK) located in Castle Yard, Kilkenny Design Centre,Co.Kilkenny.
